Bounce Back Better

Bounce Back Better

July 05, 2020

This Jotting comes to you from a hospital bed and from painful personal experience. My last ride saw me doing a horrible Evel Knievel impression and going down hard onto even harder concrete. After being scooped up by the locals and loaded into an ambulance, I was delivered to the local hospital. Not liking Belgian cobbles on the bike, I now know I like them even less in the back of ambulance. After some pushing, prodding and x-raying, a diagnosis of a shattered left Femur was delivered. An operation then followed, to put the jigsaw of bones back together and install yet more meccano. So, where do I go from here; A] decide I’m no good at this cycling lark and park the bike, or, B] map out a path to becoming a smarter, stronger and more determined rider…the latter, no question. With the surrounding voices of normality telling me to just take it easy and hang up the cycling shoes, the Never Follow in me becomes more determined to conquer the long uphill journey to greater things.
