2020.....

2020.....

December 31, 2020

Looking back on a year that can only be described as ‘non-cycle-friendly’ and has seemed to deliver nothing but misery and isolation from racing and social pelotons, what positives can we draw out of the wreckage that is 2020? There is no doubt that the fun police donned the riot gear and gave any sporting joy a right good kicking. All the bike races, events and adventures that we’d got all excited about and trained hard for, were one-by-one shot down in flames. Trying to filter positives from all this is not easy, a bit like trying to find the jokes in a tax bill, but maybe, just maybe it’s the very fact that 2020 was so ball-burstingly terrible that is it’s finest feature. First off, as least it’s captured top spot in ‘Lamest year of my Life’ awards but moreover it reminds us what is truly important and how valuable basic freedoms and simple activities are. Going for a ride with friends, stopping for coffees and firing up the BBQ with beers afterwards is something we'll appreciate all the more from now on. Maybe next time we roll up on the start line, we will relish that moment all the more. 2020, the year that showed us just how dull life could be and how vital it is we don’t waste a minute of it. Never Follow; don’t just survive 2021 and beyond, live it!
